Day 1 Phnom Penh
On arrival at the airport you will be transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 Phnom Penh
Spend a leisurely day visiting the Royal Palace, National Museum and the Silver Pagoda, as well as Wat Phenh. In the afternoon visit the Tom Pong Market Psar often referred to as the Russian Market and the Central Market.
Day 3 Phnom Penh
Spend the morning at the Killing fields of Choeung Ek, before returning to Phnom Penh to visit Tuol Sleng Museum, this was a former high school that was converted into a prison and a torture centre by the Khmer Rouge in 1975, afternoon to explore the local markets
Day 4 Phnom Penh – Battambang
Depart Phnom Penh at 7am transfer by car to Battambang, enjoy lunch in the French Colonial Town of Battambang, after lunch enjoy the beautiful French Colonial architecture of Battambang town, the Sangke’ River and Buddhist monastery take a short ride on the Bamboo Railway and gain an insight on how goods are transported in this part of the world before visiting a local market.
Day 5 Battambang
Take a Cooking Class in Battambang with Nary's Kitchen, in the afternoon visit Sampeau (Sailingboat Mountain). The hilltop used to house a number of temples now being rebuilt after they were destroyed by the Khmer Rouge. At the temple mount there is a cave which acted as a Killing Field where people mainly children were thrown down and now seen as a Memorial Site. Then visit Wat Ek Phnom a temple from the days of Angkor, built in the 10th century.
Day 6 Battambang - Siem Reap
This morning try the famous Bamboo train ride in Battambang before we take the boat to Siem Reap across the Tonle Sap Lake, to the heart of the Khmer Empire Siem Reap.
Day 7 Siem Reap
Today is the beginning of your experience in the Khmer Empire start the day visiting the awe inspiring Temples of Angkor for a full day of discovery. First we visit the “Great City” of Angkor Thom, built in the late 12th Century, entering its impressive stone gates and seeing the exuberant carvings, provide a fascinating insight into the Khmer Kingdom. Within the Royal enclosure you will see the Bayon temple, the Phimeanakas Temple, the Baphoun Temple, the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. After lunch we continue on to the most famous temple of the former Khmer kingdom, Angkor Wat. This architectural masterpiece was constructed back in the 12th century and covers an area of around 210 hectares, and today is considered as an architectural masterpiece around the world. Inside, the walls are decorated with beautiful hand carvings and bas-reliefs illustrating Hindu mythology and over 2000 Aspara dancers ornate the temple walls. Having explored Angkor, we head back to our hotel to relax before enjoying this evenings dinner which will be accompanied by a traditional Apsara dance and culture show.
Day 8 Siem Reap
After breakfast at the hotel, morning transfer to visit Banteay Srei Built from intricately carved sandstone, Banteay Srei lies 32 km from Angkor and is enveloped by jungle. Proceed to Preh Khan (believed to be a temporary residence of King Jayavarman VII who lived here during the restoration of Angkor Thom city.) The last visit before noon is Mebon Oriental (East Mebon - a pyramid of receding terraces on which are placed many detached edifices) Afternoon the Cambodian Cultural Village - The Cultural Village is a unique open-air museum with exhibits that represent the various ethnicities and cultures in Cambodia. Exhibits include replicas of important buildings and building styles, traditional apsara dances ethnic performances and demonstrations of traditional Khmer rituals.
Day 9 Siem Reap
Morning free at leisure in the afternoon visit the Chantiers Ecoles (Artisans d'Angkor) - Les Chantiers Ecoles: vocational centre trains 650 apprentices a year including 160 in fine arts and crafts trades. Guided tours through the different workshops such as stone sculpture, woodcarving, polychromie, and watch the artisan at work.
Day 10 Siem Reap - Sihanoukville - Kep
Take the morning flight to Sihanoukville and transfer to the beach resort of Kep
Day 11 - 13 Kep
Free time at the secluded beach in Kep
Day 14 Kep - Phnom Penh - Depart
Transfer to Phnom Penh for your onward flight
