Day 9 Luang Prabang - Vientiane
Spend the morning free before your transfer to the airport for the 13:10 flight to Vientiane arriving at 13:50. On arrival take a visit to the Cope Centre which helps victims affected by Unexploded Ordance left over from the Indochina wars. Stroll along the river and have dinner and a cultural show.
Day 10 Vientiane
After breakfast visit the morning market a great place to pick up a souvenir before starting a city tour of the capital of Laos. Start with a visit to Wat Sisaket with its thousands of miniature Buddha’s and, the oldest temple in the city and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo which used to house the Emerald Buddha, now in Bangkok, Thailand. We’ll then take a short ride across the city to see the National symbol of Laos which is the ‘That Luang Stupa ‘and stop at the imposing Patuxay Monument Laos Arch de Triumph a reminder of the French Colonial period.
Day 11 Vientiane – Pakse – Don Daeng
Transfer to the airport for the 07:00 flight to Pakse arriving Pakse at 08:15 on arrival take a short visit to Pakse before your transfer to Champasak UNESCO World Heritage Site was one of the first temples to be built by the Khmer Empire and dates back to the 6th century it was originally used to worship the Hindu god Shiva and other deities before being converted into a Buddhist temple in later centuries. Wat Phu was considered the center of the Khmer kingdom until it was moved to Angkor Wat in the 12th century. Return to Champasak and cross over the river to the picturesque island of Don Daeng where you will spend the night.
Day 12 Don Daeng - Xe Pian - Don Daeng
A day trip to see Phu Asa and the elephants at Ban Kiat Ngong. Take an elephant trek to the top of the temple ruins and enjoy amazing views over the Xe Pian Wetlands before returning to Don Daeng Island.
Day 13 Don Daeng - 4000 Islands - Don Daeng
Drive to the 4000 Island area where you will embark on a boat ride through the Islands to Don Det pass by the old ferry terminal and see the remains of the locomotive before stopping at the Island of Don Khone on the otherside of the French Railway Bridge from Don Det. After lunch take a gentle bike ride 2km to Liphi Waterfall before returning to the mainland. Continue to the border where you can take another boat ride to see the Irrawaddy dolphins before returning to Don Don Daeng stopping at Khon Phapeng Waterfall on the way.
Day 14 Don Daeng – Pakse - Bangkok - Depart
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Bangkok your onward journey
