Day 4: Don Khone – Khon Pha Peng – Tad Etu (B/L/D)
Start our day by crossing over the river and heading south riding to the fascinating Khan Phapeng waterfalls, known as the Niagara of the East and the largest in South East Asia, these natural falls of nature divide the Mekong River providing a magnificent site near to the Cambodian border. From here transfer one and a half hours drive up into the coffee and tea growing area of Laos, better known as the Bolaven Plateau a volcanically rich fertile land. Then we continue cycling north towards Pakse before climbing into the temperate coffee climate growing area well known for its Arabica and Robusta beans. These beans fetch some of the highest coffee prices around the world today and provide an excellent source of income for the local community. The road undulates, has a definite upward feeling, however it is of a gentle riding nature and a welcome challenge from the predominately flat lands over the past few days. As we climb we pass through an abundance of coffee plantations before arriving at the wonderful Tad Fane resort which overlooks the stunning Tad Fane falls with its two stunning cascades, framed against the Bolaven Plateau. Also visit Tad Yuang falls where you can swim and relax those tired muscles in the cool waters. You will spend the night at the beautiful Tad Etu Resort on the plateau
